East-facing (vastu, as a preference people state).

East-facing describes which way a home's main door or windows open, and it comes up often in Bengaluru because many renters and owners state it as a preference, following vastu, the traditional Indian system of belief about how direction affects the life lived inside a home.

( SCROLL ↓ )

Vastu does not change anything about a home that a renter could independently measure, like its light, its ventilation, or its condition. But the preference is common enough here that it can affect how quickly a home is taken, and sometimes the rent asked, whatever a renter believes about the reasoning. We note a home's facing as a fact, not a recommendation, and leave what it is worth to the renter.

( THE GLOSSARY )

East-facing (vastu, as a preference people state)

A rental term, explained for Bengaluru.

A term is defined from the statute or from the practice, with the source named beside it. Where Bengaluru's practice differs from the law, the page says so rather than choosing one.

Send this page to whoever you are moving with; a home is usually chosen by two people at eleven at night. The next step is one message to the desk with the budget, the size and the office.

The glossary knows the word. The desk knows the home.
