Article 30 of the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957 sets the rate for a lease, commonly quoted as fifty paise for every hundred rupees of the year's average rent and deposit put together, for a lease of up to a year, capped at five hundred rupees, and rising for a longer term. That figure is widely repeated by agreement and tax portals, but we could not match it to the Act's own schedule directly, so we mark it commonly quoted, not confirmed. It is paid once, through an e-stamp, before the agreement is signed.
