How do I give my tenant's details to the Mumbai Police?

Use the online Tenant Information form on the Mumbai Police website.

( SCROLL ↓ )

The owner fills it in, and an OTP goes to the owner's phone. You can also submit at the local police station or by registered post to that station. The online form covers only Brihanmumbai Police Commissionerate limits. The page says a police NOC is not required to rent a flat or house.

What the record says

  • Owner details and the rented property, with agreement start and end dates.
  • Tenant name, photo, permanent address and an ID type such as Aadhaar or PAN. The ID number is optional.
  • Both sides must make sure the details are true. False information is a punishable offence.
  • If you register on the IGR 2.0 site, it has a step for tenant details for police records and a police information report to download.
