What documents does a landlord ask for?

Most Bengaluru landlords ask for a government photo ID such as your Aadhaar or passport, a passport size photo, and proof of where you work, like an employee ID or an offer letter.

Many also want your last address and a reference, especially if you are new to the city. These documents are for the landlord's own comfort and for the police verification your landlord must file, not fixed by any single rule. Keep soft copies ready before you start viewing flats, so you can move quickly once you find one.

What documents does a landlord ask for?

A renter's question, answered from the record and the law.

Every number on this page is dated, and its source is named beside it. The law is what the statute says; the practice is what Bengaluru does, and where the two differ, both are written down.

Send this page to whoever you are moving with; a home is usually chosen by two people at eleven at night. The next step is one message to the desk with the budget, the size and the office.

The record answers the question. The desk confirms the home.
